A part of analysis of uncertainty is termed propagation of error or propagation of variance. But, analysis of uncertainty is more comprehensive than just propagation of variability; and uncertainty analysis guides quality improvement in processes, products and procedures. Further, classic approaches to propagation of uncertainty are limited to analytically tractable equations.
